Local Realtors targeting foreign buyers

NAPLES, Fla. – Sept. 8, 2009 – Out of its 1,400 local chapters, the National Association of Realtors has selected the Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR) to develop a model for targeting home buyers from other countries. The local organization serves Florida’s Collier County, where 25 percent of the population – double the national average of 12 percent – are foreigners.

According to NABOR President Brett Brown, the top marketing targets at the moment are Canadians, the British and Germans. These and other outside buyers have an advantage in that the exchange rate favors their currency right now, providing them increased affordability to make a purchase.

Shopping Florida homes to international clients ultimately will benefit residents of the state, says Brown, who notes that the activity will pare down the glut of properties on the market and allow prices to stabilize.
